Change UCL Name To CR7 Champions League – Ronaldo
Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has called on UEFA to rename the Champions League after him after helping Real Madrid to win a third consecutive title by beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final in Kiev on Saturday.
Ronaldo did not score in the final but finished the tournament as the top scorer, with 15 goals – five more than joint second place Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Saturday night’s win made it five Champions League titles for Rinaldo on a personal level.
“Who was the top scorer once again?” Ronaldo replied when asked if he was disappointed not to get on the score sheet in Saturday’s final.
“The Champions League should change and be called the CR7 Champions League.
“I have won five and I am the goalscorer again, so I cannot be sad.”
When asked about his future, Ronaldo, 33, said: “The main thing was to win, to go down in history,” he said.
“Now it’s time to enjoy this. In the next few days I’ll give the fans, who have been by my side, an answer. It’s been great being at Real Madrid.
“I’ll speak in the next few days. Now it’s time to enjoy the moment. The future of any player isn’t important. We’ve made history.”
