Yes, every one is scandalized at what is now the most talked about sex video of all time; and its distasteful because, we are talking about children here.
We all must have read, heard, seen, and given our opinion online or offline on the alarmed rape of a 10 year old Chrisland school girl. You don’t even need to be a parent to sympathise with the families of the children involved in that video; now when you juxtapose it with the video of the mother that started the storm, where she was appealing to Nigerians to help her fight the school that suspended her daughter, you wonder why she didn’t go into a close door with the school; hush, hush the matter, and demand to know the real reason her child was suspended indefinitely instead of bringing it to the table of public opinion.
I was among the people who got so agitated that I began to share the mother’s plight, hoping people in positions of authority would wade in and get justice for a woman and her daughter who I honestly believed had been unjustly treated.
Like Chimamanda Adichie said, the danger of a single story.
Blame me not, even if I don’t have a 10 year old child, I have nieces, that age, so I believed that single story and and cried foul against the school!
What side of a mother’s story about her little girl, can be untrue when suddenly the child is ejected unceremoniously from a prestigious school after an episode that must have left her traumatized…it’s rape o! I was enraged!
Beware the danger of a single story.
There was a video and even if there wasn’t, teachers and school authorities see a lot of the things parents have no ideas about. They see a side of our children we never dream of.
Anyway, I followed the story, I read up every comment people made on WhatsApp, on Instagram…even on Twitter…
Theeennn…people who had seen the video, even before the Lagos state government forbade sharing of same as a crime; people began to say, “Omo, the girl is not a 10 years old…the video we saw, the girl was an expert rider….some were even laughing, saying the girl raped the boys instead”
I was angry at such comments, I reminded the “laughing jackasses” we were talking about a 10year child here.
They told me to go watch the video; this was no 10year old.
I never got to see it but a few close friends who had described what they wished they could un-see. “First, that girl is not 10years old…secondly, she has done this before…to which I asked hurriedly, “done what?”
“Sex, na. She was riding the boy…there were several others…the way she changed position…she has done this several times…you know that style they called horse riding…? She turned and …”
“…please stop!”
What is clear to me is, the mother never saw the video before she went online to make that plea! Her plea made people aware there was a cover-up, the cover-up intrigued people, which in turn made them seek the video.
What people saw made them turn against the woman they had earlier been sympathizing with.
I turned too.
-The woman fxxked up, they said…
-She for kuku not have said anything, they said
-Her daughter wasn’t raped they said…
-Her daughter isn’t the 10 year old she claimed, they reiterated…
-Her daughter had been having sex before now, multiple times, they insist based on what they saw…
-She is a useless woman, crying over a child she doesn’t even know jack about, they said…
-In other countries, the government would have taken that girl from her because clearly, she is a terrible and negligent mother, they said
-They concluded, the school did right to suspend her indefinitely!
This is double jeopardy.
If what I have in my head, by way of description, is what truly is…it means the mother just exposed herself and her child to something they never expected!
Shame!
Shame so strong it stings.
Mummy wa, why didn’t you watch the video before coming to do your own video?
Although some believed she had seen the video and yet came to cry out in public; I think not. in a way, I wished the school had shown her the video before expelling her daughter…
But if wishes were horses…
Hunmm.
My attention is mostly drawn to the comments and many were plain nasty; everyone seems to be a good parents;
– I did this when I noticed so and so in my child…
-I did that when my child’s school did that and that…
It’s funny how when something bad happens to you, everyone seems to have an opinion on how they did better than you when they were never in your shoes!
Now I see photos of the mother looking like a slay queen on Instagram, this I think is a way to demonise her. Why dig up old photos of her looking hot and sexy as reason for her child being the way she is?
The family as it were is already shamed, no scented soap can wash them as they are right now. The families of the boys involved too are not spared, thankfully, they have kept mum so far. Please, daddies and mummies of the other children, mum’s the word! Spare your children the shame and shit being spread around because once you come out as a parent, the world will find your children and plaster their faces all over the internet!
Children these days are monsters!
The onus is on parents to run several steps ahead of the people we call our children, they are light years ahead of us. There have been reports and confirmed, too, of secondary school pupils having sex with with one another in the schools bathrooms, giving each other blow jobs and thinking nothing of it. It happens in almost all secondary schools pan Nigeria, never say, never!
These children play adult games they have no idea what its consequences are; one day they would want to hold responsible positions in life and that darned video will grow wings.
Some day they would aspire to something noble and someone reminds them of how they were the best at bj back in college…let’s let these children know there are consequences to playing adult games.
And when they are caught, deal with the issues but keep the children out of public eye!
