Colleagues, Fans Celebrate Nollywood Icon Nkem Owoh As He Turns 70
Veteran Nollywood icon, Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia, is celebrating his 70th birthday today and fans are celebrating him on social media.
Osuofia kicked off the celebration of the milestone age with a post on his Instagram page, saying: “Chi Efogo and it is my 70th birthday.
“What else can I say? To God be all the glory. Special thanks to you all for being part of this journey. I love you all.”
Some celebrities took to the actor’s comment section to wish him well. “Happy Birthday Sir. Keep inspiring generations. God bless you,” actor Ken Erics commented.
Uche Elendu commented, “Happy Birthday my John Bull… 70 looks amazing on you uncle.” Fredric Leonard commented, “Happy Birthday, Icon Living.”
Chidi Mokeme said, “Happy Birthday Mpa. Many more celebrations in good health and long life.”
Fans of the actor also celebrated him on X formerly known as Twitter, with former Presidential spokesperson, Segun Adeniyi posted, “The one and only Nkem Owoh is 70! I recall my days at the Villa. Most of the videos we watched on trips in the Presidential Jet were his. One day, I asked the PAF Commander why. It turned out the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua requested them! Happy birthday, Sir!”
Aside from the good wishes for Osuofia, fans also posted funny clips of the legendary actor in the movies he has acted in and his songs.
Nkem Owoh is not just one of the best comic actors in Nollywood, he is also a singer and has released some trending songs in the past.
He has won many awards including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2008.
He won the award for his role in a Nigerian film, Stronger than Pain.
Owoh was also honoured with the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Award’s Lifetime Achievement Award at its 13th edition in 2017.
The actor was born on February 7, 1955, in Udi, Enugu State, Southeastern Nigeria. He studied Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
