Chairman of Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi, has affirmed that election would hold in the existing 20 local councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state this year.

The 37 LCDAs were created by President Bola Tinubu in 2003 when he was governor of the state.

Ojelabi made the clarification in a meeting yesterday with party’s ward chairmen in Ikeja.

He stated: “Local government election this time is not as usual. It will be highly competitive, fair and transparent. Thus, we must be very prepared.

“The ward chairmen are directed to inform all aspirants for the local government chairman and ward councillors to submit letters of intent to the party. Deadline is end of January.”

The chairman added: “LGA and ward meetings will come up on the 30th and 31st respectively. The above are for your immediate action.”
