Council poll: Lagos APC screening panel submits report

The Local Council Election Screening Committee of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC), headed by Prof. Abayomi Durosinmi-Etti, has submitted its report to the party Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun.

The 180-page report was being considered yesterday by the Lagos State APC Governance Advisory Council (GAC), at its meeting in Marina, Lagos.

No fewer than 338 chairmanship and over 1,200 councilorship aspirants appeared before the screening committee in the last two weeks.

According to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) chaired by Justice Ayo Philips, the election will hold in July.

Yesterday, aspirants who failed screening because they could not meet the 60 per cent pass mark, started submitting their complaints to the Appeal Committee headed by former deputy governor Olufemi Pedro.

The Pedro panel is expected to start its sitting today to enable the failed aspirants ventilate their grievances.
