Crystal Palace manager tests positive for coronavirus

Crystal Palace have announced that manager Patrick Vieira has tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss Sunday afternoon’s trip to Tottenham.

The Eagles did make a request to the Premier League to have the game postponed following a coronavirus outbreak at the club but that was turned down on Sunday morning.

As a result, Osian Roberts will take charge of a weakened Palace squad for their visit to north London and Vieira will be forced to isolate for the next week.

Further tests took place on players on Sunday morning, after a night spent at home and not in a hotel which is the club’s usual routine in a bid to combat the rising cases, per The Athletic.

Three fixtures on Sunday have already been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
