Cult War Kills 14 In Enugu Communities
No fewer than 14 persons have been reportedly killed in a raging cult war in Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria.
SaharaReporters gathered that the killings occurred at Emene, Eke-Obinagu, and Abakpa, all in the Enugu East local government area and in the university town of Nsukka, in Nsukka local government area.
Some sources identified members of Eiye confraternity and Aro Mate (Baggers) as being involved in the cult war but SaharaReporters could not independently verify this information.
According to security sources, the war began last Thursday and has claimed no fewer than 14 lives.
One of the sources said three people were killed in Emenite axis of Emene, one person at Eke-Obinagu while 11 were butchered at various locations in Nsukka.
One man identified as Jude, who lives at Emene was reportedly saved by policemen who intervened and took him to hospital after he was grievously macheted at Eke-Obinagu junction on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the police have yet to speak on the unfortunate incident.
However, SaharaReporters learnt that the police had deployed various special squads in the state to stop the war and bring their leaders to justice.
Efforts made by SaharaReporters to speak with the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls from our correspondent.
