Defections: Remain Solid On Your Course – Bode George Tells Fubara

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has pleaded with Governor Similaye Fubara of Rivers State to remain in the party.

George made the appeal during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He said the PDP would resolve its issues and move on as a political party, saying what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did in Rivers was constitutionally wrong.

When asked to comment on the rumour that Fubara was considering moving to the APC, George said, “This man has not reacted negatively. He has been going around to calm people, telling them that they should relax.

“I will plead with Fubara to remain steady on his course. He should remain solid on his course and with the fear of God in him, whatever God has decided will come to pass.

“You don’t need to jump. Let us look at the political parties. Here is our own party. We have a structure. We have a national chairman, national secretary, national organizing committee, national women leader.”

However, George said that those who want to defect should be allowed to do so, saying that the PDP would not fall.

He said, “Let those who want to decamp do so. People has started to react. Go and visit Rivers State and see the reaction from the people.

“We did not vote for you to go to APC. You have declared you are moving to APC. It’s not the first time we are seeing it. They think that all is not well with the PDP. Let us wait. The Iroko tree is not that kind of political tree that can just fall down. No, it has deep roots.”
