Discontent Grows In Mbah’s Cabinet As Enugu Commissioners Now Write Applications To See Governor — Sources
There is growing discontent among the commissioners and aides of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State as they now required to write applications before they can see him in office, some top government officials have told SaharaReporters.
It was also gathered that the governor does not answer calls from his aides and associates.
One of the government officials who revealed the development to SaharaReporters on condition of anonymity, accused the governor of turning himself to a tin god within one year of his administration.
One of the sources said, “We now write applications before we see the governor for any private or even official matters. If you are not comfortable with it, you will be asked to wait till the weekly Executive Council meeting to see him. We apply through the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia.
“More worrisome is that visitors who desire to see the governor only see him through Zoom. He has walled himself with cabals like his mentor, former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani.”
A top chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, also lamented that Governor Mbah has walled himself off from party leaders.
The party source said there was also discontent among PDP chieftains in the state with the governor’s attitude towards them.
“Since he was declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election, he has refused to meet with the leaders of the party from state to the ward level. He has discarded and disregarded the party structures. He came with his line of team.
“We are preparing for the party’s ward congress but as we speak he has not deemed it wise to meet with the leadership of the party. He believes that he will amass so much money before the next election to buy everything or he will use the Catholic Church in Enugu State as his political structure to deliver votes for him in the next election.”
The party chieftain also alleged that all the people who invested heavily to support his bid to become governor despite all the odds against him, had all been relegated.
“One of them who invested several hundreds of millions; his reward was the demolition of his business. That will tell you where his administration is driving to.”
However, efforts to get the reaction of the state governor to allegations and the brewing tension in the state chapter of the party were unsuccessful as Mbah did not answer his calls.
When contacted by one of our reporters, the state information commissioner, Aka Eze Aka, promised to call back but had yet to do so 48 hours later. He did not answer subsequent calls from our reporter.(SaharaReporters)
