Leaders in Kogi East Senatorial District have urged the state’s governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo not to be a rubber stamp of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello.
Ododo, a protégé of former Governor Bello, was on Saturday, sworn in as the state’s new governor.
On his first day in office, the new governor announced the appointment of some persons, among them were those who worked with his predecessor.
But the National Council of Ojuju Agbadufu Igala Forum cautioned Governor Ododo against taking orders from his immediate predecessor.
They also asked him to reverse all the “anti-people’s policies” of the previous administration, including the percentage salary payment to workers under the payroll of the state government.
The forum’s president, Christopher Ukwenya, while briefing newsmen in Abuja, also enjoined the governor to reverse the dethronement and banishment of some traditional rulers in the state.
Yahaya Bello deposed four traditional rulers, including a first-class traditional ruler, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, the Ohimege-Igu Koton-Karfe; Sam Bola Ojoa, the Olu Magongo of Magongo and Samuel Adayi Onimisi, the Obobanyi of Emani.
“The ill-motivated suspension, deposition and banishment of traditional rulers in some parts of the state are philippic political vendetta that has no bearing on our constitutional democracy. We hereby call for total reversal to the status quo,” Ukwenya said.
He called on the anti-graft agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello.
