Doris Chima, Agboola: Nollywood hit with two deaths in 24 hours
Nollywood has been hit with two deaths in the last 24 hours, the latest being that of actress, Doris Chima.
Doris who was battling breast cancer died on Sunday.
She was a foundation member of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and former vice chairperson of Lagos AGN.
Lagos chairman of the AGN, Emeka Rising Ibe, who confirmed the death told The Nation he was still in shock over the sad incident.
“She called me last week and pleaded due to ill health not to remove her from the verification exercise I embarked on to ascertain true members of the guild in Lagos.
“Yesterday morning, I got a call that she was dead. Though I am yet to visit the family, it is a great loss for us. I pray for the repose of her soul.”
Also Kunle Agboola, Kunle Agboola, a Nollywood producer and record label executive,was also announced dead by the family.
According to Lanre Agboola, Kunle died at the intensive care unit of the NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
He was 53 years old.
He was the producer of popular Yoruba programme, Idan Irawo.
The Nollywood-themed show ran for several years on DSTV.
He produced and mastered songs for music giants including Daddy Showkey, Tope Alabi, Sunny Neji, among others.
Kunle long battled with kidney disease before his death .
He was the Sound Engineer and Media Officer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), ICB Parish in Brooklyn.
He is survived by aged parents, wife, children and siblings.
The family will announce burial rites soon.
