Edo lawmakers have confirmed all the 11 nominees forwarded to them for screening as commissioners by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The lawmakers also confirmed Justice Joe Acha as Edo State Chief Judge, following a request by the governor through a letter signed by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie.

Obaseki forwarded the list of 11 nominees for screening by the House of Assembly more than a year after his inauguration for second term.

They were screened by the Committee on Rules, Business and Government House, chaired by Majority Leader Henry Okhuarobo.

Those cleared by the House are: Andrew Emwanta (Egor Local Government Area); Oluwole Osamudiamen lyamu, SAN (Oredo); Prof Obehi Akoria (Esan West); Dr. Joan Oviawe (Uhunmwonde); Ethan Uzamere (Ovia Southwest) and Monday Osaigbovo (Ovia Northeast).

Others are: Marie Edeko (Esan Northeast); Joseph Eboigbe (Esan Central); Moses Agbukor (Etsako East); lsoken Omo (Ikpoba-Okha) and Mrs. Otse Momoh-Omorogbe (Etsako West).

In a letter to the Edo Assembly led by Speaker Marcus Onobun on September 28, Obaseki requested the House to screen and confirm the nominees as commissioners.

The screening committee report was presented to the House for consideration by Okhuarobo.

In the report, Okhuarobo described all the nominees as competent, relatively young and physically fit for state assignments.

The committee recommended that the nominees, having been found to be eligible, be confirmed as commissioners.

They were unanimously confirmed as commissioners in state in a voice vote by the lawmakers.
