EFCC invites Bobrisky, VeryDarkMan over N15m bribery allegation against its officials
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited VeryDarkMan, the activist, and Bobrisky, the Instagram celebrity, over bribery allegations against its officials.
In a statement shared on Tuesday evening, Ola Olukoyede, the EFCC chairman, also ordered an immediate investigation into the allegations.
The directive from the anti-graft agency came after VeryDarkMan, born Martins Otse, shared a video online wherein Bobrisky claimed she bribed some EFCC officials with N15,000,000 to drop the money laundering charges against her.
Bobrisky, whose birth name is Idris Okuneye, was released from prison on August 5 after she was sentenced to six months on April 12 for abusing the naira.
According to the statement released by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, Olukoyede has constituted a team of investigators to look into the allegations.
The commission also asked the pair to make themselves available at its Lagos directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery.
“In a swift reaction, the EFCC’s boss has constituted a team of Investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery,” the statement reads in part.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.”
There is no love lost between Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan. The controversial figures have constantly engaged in a heated war of words on social media.
