ESN commander arrested in Ebonyi
The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested an alleged leader of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), a security arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), in the state.
The police said the suspect was arrested alongside his gang members, in a thick forest in Agba community of Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.
Ebonyi State Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Mr. Chris Anyanwu, in a Statement, said that items such as eight sets of military camouflage, and bullet proof jackets, among others were recovered from them. According to Anyanwu, the arrest of the suspects was carried out in a joint operations involving the Department of State Services (DSS),Army,and other security agencies in the state.
Anyanwu, further revealed that the joint security team also carried out a similar operation in Isu, in Onicha LGA of the state.
He listed the items recovered from the group to include: a 12 bullet-proof jackets, eighth sets of Military camouflage uniforms, two camp-gas cookers, 110 rounds of FNC live ammunition, 40 rounds of GPMG live ammunition, two PRO electronics scanners (EOD equipment), five empty canons, five single-barrel guns, nine assorted GSM handsets, three locally-fabricated revolver pistols,one white Toyota Hilux vehicle, a bunch of keys, and three NIN slips bearing different names. Others are, two KYMCO motorcycles (one with registration number: ENU 353 Q, and an unregistered one, one YAMAHA motorcycle with number plate; QC 267 UML, one KC SAMSUNG motorcycle, without number, seven Military/Police bullet-proof jackets and two pairs of Military boots and many others were recovered in the shrine”.
