FBI’s wanted man didn’t fund my election, says Ihedioha
Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has distanced himself from reports that Mr. one the suspects in the list recently released by the Federal Bureau of Information (FBI) for graft, Augustine Chika Odionyenma, sponsored his governorship election.
Ihedioha described the report as malicious and the handiwork of dubious characters who intend to malign his good image and integrity.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chibuike Onyeukwu, yesterday, he said he was not aware that Odionyenma was neither involved in any crime, nor being investigated for financial crimes.
“It has become necessary to disclaim as false and malicious, a social media report that the 2019 electioneering campaign of Governor Emeka Ihedioha was bankrolled by Odionyenma.
“Odionyenma has been reportedly implicated by the FBI of the United States of America (U.S.A) for alleged money laundering and wire transfers,” the statement reads.
