France, Denmark loom large if Nigeria go through to next round
The Super Eagles of Nigeria could face France or Denmark if they make it to the next round at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Nigeria are no strangers to the two countries at the World Cup.
Denmark beat the Super Eagles 4-1 at the same stage of the competition at the Stade de France in Paris in 1998.
While France were 2-0 winners at the Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha in Brasilia, kicking Nigeria out of Brazil 2014 also in the round-of-16.
France and Denmark have dominated Group C in Russia. The 1998 champions have maximum points from two games while the Danes need at least a draw in their last match to book their ticket.
Australia can render these expected fixtures with the Super Eagles useless if they beat Peru by two clear goals in their last match and hope France beat Denmark at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Tuesday.
The winner of Group C will take on the runner-up of Group D in the next round in Kazan on Saturday, June 30, while the winner of Group D will play the runner-up of Group C in Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday, July 1. (The Cable)
