FRSC recovers N8.6 million at scene of accident in Kaduna
Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, have recovered N8.6 million at the scene of a road accident that occurred on the Zaria-Funtua Road.
The Sector Commander, Mr. Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the incident during a statement on Monday.
According to Nadabo, the accident took place at Area G Samaru at around 7:00 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024, leaving two people injured.
He said the crash involved a Ford Pickup belonging to the Nigerian Army, with the registration number FST 134 FX, and a red Toyota Corolla bearing the registration number KTN 316 HK.
Nadabo stated that the Ford Pickup was heading towards Funtua, while the Toyota Corolla, en route to Zaria, lost control and collided with the military vehicle.
He added that preliminary investigations pointed to excessive speed and loss of control as the primary causes of the accident.
“A rescue team from Zebra 55 Shika, led by the Zebra Head, promptly responded to the scene of the crash,” Nadabo said.
He added that three people were involved in the accident. While two sustained injuries, the third person escaped unharmed.
According to him, the injured victims were immediately transported to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, for medical attention.
He noted that during the rescue operation, FRSC officials discovered a sum of N8.6 million at the scene, which belonged to the owner of the Toyota Corolla.
He said arrangements are underway to return the recovered funds to the rightful owner once he is discharged from the hospital.
