Fubara retains four Wike’s commissioners

The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed four commissioners nominees sent to it by Governor Siminilayi Fubara.

Fubara had written to the 32-member legislature requesting the lawmakers to screen them as members of his cabinet.

All four commissioners served in the administration of the immediate-past governor, Nyesom Wike.

The Speaker of the House,  Ikuinyi Awaji-Ibani, who read the letter from  Fubara during Tuesday’s plenary, said the commissioners’ designates performed creditably well during the immediate past administration.

Awaji-Ibani later directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the decision of the House to the governor after the lawmakers present at plenary gave the nominees a clean bill of health.

He stated, “It is my pleasure to forward the under-listed nominees to the Rivers State House of Assembly. Those for 15, against nill, absentia, nill.

“The results showed that Prof Zacceus Adangor (SAN), Dr George Kelly, Isaac Kamalu and Prof Chinedu Mmom screened for appointment as commissioners as members of the Rivers State Executive Council.

“They are hereby confirmed by the House.”

In Wike’s administration, Adangor served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Kelly served as Commissioner for Works; Kamalu was Commissioner for Finance; while Mmom served as Commissioner for Education.

Speaking to newsmen, one of the commissioner-designates, Mmom said his second coming would see a lot of improvement in the ministry he would be assigned to.

“Well, one of the things I have targeted is that I am going to do what is called digitisation of data and information in the ministry,” he stated.
