Fuel Tanker Explodes In Niger State
A fuel tanker exploded in Kontagora, Niger State, on Sunday, causing panic among residents and motorists in the area.
No casualty was recorded in the incident, which occurred near AA Rano, opposite Kontagora General Hospital.
Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker suddenly burst into flames, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.
Firefighters and emergency responders were spotted at the scene to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. Despite the intensity of the fire, only the tanker was destroyed.
The Director of Information at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Hussaini Ibrahim, assured the public that the situation was under control.
He also confirmed to Channels Television that no lives were lost and no property was damaged apart from the burnt tanker.
Authorities were yet to determine the cause of the explosion but preliminary reports suggest that a possible mechanical fault or leakage that may have triggered the explosion.
