Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has led key party members and governors to the Presidential Villa in Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The visit was to present Monday Okpebholo, the newly elected governor of Edo State, to the President.

The gathering, held behind closed doors, included notable governors such as Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun). Also in attendance were Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo North, and Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu.

Okpebholo’s victory in the September 21 governorship election, declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), remains a point of contention.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the election’s outcome, alleging that irregularities marred the process.

Despite the controversy, Okpebholo and his supporters received a warm reception at Aso Rock.

“This meeting reaffirms the APC’s commitment to strong governance in Edo State,” Ganduje said while introducing the new governor-elect to Tinubu.

The President is expected to work closely with Okpebholo, whose leadership will be crucial in advancing APC’s agenda in Edo.

However, with the PDP disputing the election result, political tensions in the state will likely continue.
