Edo’s Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, has stated that Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contributed to his victory in the state’s governorship election.
Speaking during a visit to the APC national secretariat on Thursday, Okpebholo noted Ganduje’s hands-on involvement, recalling how the chairman’s presence in Edo “strengthened morale and contributed to a peaceful election day.”
“There was absolute peace in Edo State. Before now, there was this kind of boast that people would die, but on election day, nobody died,” Okpebholo stated.
Speaking earlier, Ganduje reminded Okpebholo to focus on his campaign promises, encouraging him to be an “action governor” who prioritizes impactful public service over scrutinizing past administrations.
He assured Okpebholo of the APC’s full support, stating that party resources across all levels would be mobilized to aid his administration in serving the people effectively.
“Think forward and be an action governor. During the campaign, you were an action candidate, and now you are an action governor. We believe it. We believe you will succeed and make the people of our winning state proud,” Ganduje stated.
