George Floyd: White man beaten after he aimed arrow at Utah protesters
A White man has been beaten by protesters after he aimed his bow and arrow at protesters in Utah who were demonstrating following the death of George Floyd, who died during police brutality in Minnesota on Monday.
According to local news station KSL-TV, the man was detained after the incident, which took place after 6:00pm (local time) on Saturday amid nationwide protests.
In a tweet, the Salt Lake City Police Department said it did not have the individual in custody but intended to screen charges against him.
Footage of the incident posted on social media depicted the man yell at bystanders for damaging his car as he prepared the bow.
The person filming the conflict asked: “You call yourself an American?”
To which he said, “Yes, I’m American, All Lives Matter!” in reference to the slogan that has come to be associated with criticism of the “Black Lives Matter” movement, which aims to convey the extent of police violence and systemic racism towards black people in America and beyond.
