Give Ighalo more playing time, fans task Solskjaer
Nigerian fans have asked Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to give Odion Ighalo more playing time.
The calls came after Ighalo scored his fifth goal in four starts to help the club defeat Norwich 2-1 on Saturday to seal a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Solskjaer had also admitted the Nigerian’s importance in his squad.
“Very important, that was important for me, we worked hard to do it, and Odion knows how much we value him in and around the dressing room,” Solskjaer told reporters at the post-match press conference.
“He’s a goalscorer, a poacher, he’s strong and we can play the ball into him. He showed for the second and Paul (Pogba) found him.”
Reacting to the coach’s remark, the fans took to Twitter to ask for more playing time for the 31-year-old.
One of the fans, Felix Oyeleke, tweeted, “You don’t value him well enough. If you do, you will give him more time on the pitch.”
Alex Nonso added, “His Manchester United’s future is getting brighter, all he needs is more game time in the Premier League and also winning the Europa League and the FA Cup. No one will ever doubt his ability when that happens. We got your back bro, so increase the speed.”
This was corroborated by Precious Nelson.
“Give him more playing time and he will give us more goals to celebrate,” he said.
For Israel Samuel, Anthony Martial’s inconsistent form should see Ighalo start ahead of the Frenchman.
“I do honestly think @ghalojude should start more often. Just like someone said here, Martial blows hot/cold and it’s seems to be a streak thing. This guy has the drive, hunger to win and consistency. I honestly do prefer him over @AnthonyMartial next season,” he wrote.
“Let him start ahead of Martial or Rashford too,” Mark Uma also added.
