President Bola Tinubu has declared his unwavering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Anambra State, Evan Nicholas Ukachukwu, charging him to deliver victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
President Tinubu made this emphatic declaration on Monday at the State House in Abuja, where he officially presented the APC flag to Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.
In a moment laden with symbolism and intent, President Tinubu handed over the party flag and charged the duo with a clear directive: “Go and get me Anambra. You have my full support. We will work with you, we will stand by you — come rain, come shine,” Tinubu assured the candidates. “The party is supreme, but victory is paramount. We are confident in your capacity to deliver.”
He commended the national and state leadership of the APC for the successful conduct of the party’s gubernatorial primary held in April, and expressed strong optimism about the party’s chances in the election.
He heaped special praise on the choice of Senator Ekwunife as the running mate, describing her as “a round peg in a round hole.
“Distinguished Senator Ekwunife, your selection is nothing short of superlative. With your political acumen and strength on the field, paired with Ukachukwu’s dynamism, the APC is presenting a formidable team – giant killers. I have no doubt you both will deliver victory,” Tinubu affirmed.
The presentation ceremony was attended by several APC heavyweights, including the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje; the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, among other top party leaders.
With the party’s banner now officially in their hands, Ukachukwu and Ekwunife are set to embark on a high-stakes campaign, backed by the full weight of the APC leadership and the resolute support of President Tinubu.
All eyes are now on Anambra as the APC rolls out its campaign machinery – energised, united and focused on one goal – victory.
