Griezmann announces exit from Atletico Madrid, to join Barcelona
French international, Antoine Griezmann has announced his departure from Atletico Madrid with a move to Barcelona very imminent.
According to reports in Spain, Barcelona triggered the Frenchman’s £108million release clause after he informed the club about his desire to join the Catalans.
Griezmann snubbed a move to Barcelona last year and by committing his future to Atletico Madrid. Things however changed with the news of his exit which he made this evening.
In a heartfelt video posted on social media, the forward bid his farewells, saying:
‘It’s been an incredible five years; Thank you very much for everything, I take you in the heart.’
“I wanted to tell the fans who have always given me a lot of love that I have taken the decision to leave, to see other things, to have other challenges”
“The truth is it has been difficult to take this route but it is what I feel I need and I would like to thank all of you for the love you have shown me during these five years.”
The Frenchman who penned a new deal at Atletico worth around £22m 12 months ago will be joining Spanish Giants Barcelona ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.
