Group hails minister for rejecting N81m to cut Abuja stadium grass

The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, has been lauded for the disciplined and prudent management of the affairs of the ministry, particularly his rejection of the humongous bill of N81 million presented by Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) for the cutting of grass in MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

A group, Ojo Ola Oyo, noted that with the rejection, Mr. Dare who has been variously rated as one of the best performing ministers in the Buhari’s administration has shown discipline and incorruptibility against the common traits of sleaze and corruption reportedly prevailing in most public organizations today.

According to a statement issued in Ibadan, Tuesday by Ojo Ola Oyo, a non-governmental organization promoting Youth and Good Governance, the Minister was not only repositioning the ministry of Youth and Sports for greatness, but equally providing profound, clean leadership worthy of emulation by the youths.

In the statement signed by the founder of the group, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, Ojo Ola Oyo said that Nigeria needs more of Sunday Dare in the running of her affairs stressing that the best way to tackle corruption which was already endemic in our system is to ensure that people of integrity are put in charge of ministries and agencies of government.

Alhaji Olaosebikan added that the Oyo State born, Sunday Dare was able to resist the bait of huge reward from the humongus bill by rejecting it totally confirmed that he was indeed an effective and virtuous public officer.

As the representative of Oyo State in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, Olaosebikan said, the people of Oyo State are well pleased with his stellar performance adding that the latest commendable incorruptible conduct of the Minister has further assured us that with Sunday Dare in charge at any level, the future of the youths and the entire people is guaranteed.

An online newspaper recently rated the Sports Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, along with the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, as the best performing ministers in Buhari’s administration.

Recall that Sunday Dare had last Friday during a parley with the Sports Writers in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja explained how he rejected N81m bill presented to the ministry by the Abuja Environmental Protection Board for cutting of the grass in the MKO Abiola Stadium.
