Gunmen Abduct Traditional Ruler In Nasarawa
Gunmen have abducted the Sangarin Dari, a traditional ruler, in the Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Omanji.
It was gathered that the armed men, wielding AK-47 rifles, stormed the traditional ruler’s residence in the early hours of Wednesday, firing sporadically before abducting him.
It was gathered that there was no resistance from either security agents or residents.
A community member, who craved anonymity, said, “The gunmen attacked while people were asleep. The gunfire was so intense that no one could dare come out. Everyone was afraid of being hit by stray bullets.”
After the gunfire ceased, residents discovered that the monarch had been taken.
The abduction has thrown the community into panic, with no information on the ruler’s whereabouts at the time of filing this report.
Nasarawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident, saying the Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has deployed police, military, and vigilante teams to rescue the victim.
Nansel expressed optimism that the monarch would be rescued unharmed.
He urged the public to provide any helpful information to security agencies.(Daily trust)
