Gunmen kidnap Joshua Dariye’s father
Defwan Dariye, father of Joshua Dariye, former governor of Plateau state, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
This is the second time Defwan would be kidnapped. He was once abducted at his residence in Plateau, in February 2015.
The victim was later rescued by vigilantes at the Nasarawa/Plateau boundary.
The gunmen were said to have attacked the victim’s house at Bokkos local government area of the state on Thursday and whisked him away.
Ubah Ogaba, spokesman for the state police command, said security agents had been deployed to the council area to go after the kidnappers and secure the victim’s release.
“As soon as we got the information, the commissioner of police led other officers to Bokkos. The security team detailed to go after the abductors have already swung into action and we hope the victim will be released soon, ” he said.
Magit Mafiyai, an aide to the chairman of local government area who also confirmed the abduction, said Yusuf Machen, the council chairman, had visited the residence of the victim and asked the security agencies to be “proactive and do everything within their powers to rescue him”. (The Cable)
