Hamas to Free Six Israeli Captives, Return Four Bodies
Hamas has announced that it will release six Israeli captives and the bodies of four deceased this week as part of a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement with Israel.
“It has been agreed to release the remaining six living Israeli captives on Saturday under the first phase,” Hamas leader in Gaza Khalil Al-Hayya said in a recorded statement.
Among those set for release are Hisham Al-Sayed and Avera Mengistu, Al-Hayya confirmed.
Additionally, Hamas will return the bodies of four Israeli captives on Thursday, including members of the Bibas family.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’soffice confirmed the agreement reached in Cairo, stating that Hamas had agreed to release six living captives instead of the initially planned three.
Four bodies will be handed over this Thursday, with another four set to be returned next week.
