Hey, look, Daenerys as a Nigerian mother is the best meme from #GOT’s second episode
While the buzz around the final return of Game of Thrones may have slightly dissipated, the second episode was sweet fan service and farewell as we prepare for the next installment: Battle of Winterfell. Why? Because it’s going to be an absolute bloodbath. That said, the second episode generated a lot of talking points, notably Brienne of Tarth getting knighted and Arya and Gendry having sex.
Also, we saw Daenerys having a private discussion with Sansa. Since Jon Snow introduced her to Sansa in the premiere, there has been a small, unspoken rivalry between them. Daenerys wanted to clear the air between her and her possible sister-in-law, and to be sure they were on the same page. When Sansa asked Dany what would happen to the North when they have fought the Night Walkers and Dany sits on the Iron Throne, Dany couldn’t come up with an answer right. Instead, she smiles almost performatively. And now, that smile has now become a viral memes.

The meme is so apt, so true, so accurate. Being raised by a Nigerian mother and knowing she can’t necessarily touch you in public when you do something terrible, offensive or disappointing, and then knowing your punishment awaits at home. It’s the reason the average Nigerian mother would smile, too energetically and profusely. Surely, the remaining episodes of Game of Thrones will still generate a lot of memes, and it’s just a testament to how much we love the show.
