Hillary Clinton says she is not running for president in 2020 but will continue to “speak out” about politics.

Clinton spoke with News 12 Westchester, a CNN affiliate.

“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” Clinton said

“I want to be sure that people understand I’m going to keep speaking out. I’m not going anywhere.”

The comments by the former US secretary of state and first lady has quelled rumours that she was considering a 2020 run.

Quoting three sources, CNN had in January reported that Clinton may have been considering another presidential bid.

This was after accusations were made by former FBI chief, Robert Mueller, who is probing potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russians during the 2016 campaign that saw Clinton losing to Donald Trump.

John Podesta, her former campaign manager and another close friend, however, said Clinton had told them that she would not be running for president.

On several other occasions, she had also reaffirmed to the media, her decision not to contest for president, saying she will remain a strong advocate for women in US politics.
