How I attempted suicide over N22m debt — Real Warri Pikin
Nigerian comedienne Anita Asuoha, widely known as Real Warri Pikin, has opened up about a harrowing personal experience in which she attempted suicide over a debt of N22 million.
In a candid Instagram post on Wednesday, Asuoha recounted how financial strain began after a motivational speaker influenced her husband to embark on multiple business ventures.
Despite their efforts, these ventures led the family into substantial debt.
Asuoha shared her story to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, revealing that the overwhelming pressure led her to attempt suicide on June 6, 2018.
She described the experience, saying, “I tried suicide so you don’t have to. On June 6, 2018, at precisely 3 pm, I attempted suicide. I gave up on life because the burden was too much.”
She continued, “Life just dey hit me left, right, and centre; life dey turn me round like barber chair. And I felt like the only way to escape was to end the pain.”
Her suicide attempt was narrowly prevented by the timely intervention of a family member who arrived at that crucial moment.
Reflecting on her ordeal, Asuoha urged her followers to view life’s challenges as temporary and not to resort to suicide.
“Suicide is making a permanent decision to a temporary problem. And most of all, hold on to God and do the one your power reach,” she advised.
