THE First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday, disclosed that she has no plan to organise any national prayer event in the country, saying the reports about her planning such an event are unfounded and misleading.

Mrs Tinubu disclosed this through a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, BusolaKukoyi, saying contrary to reports on conventional and social media platforms, she has no plan to organise any national prayer event.

Many media platforms had, during the week, reported that both the First Lady and the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, are planning to lead a national prayer session in response to the myriad of challenges facing the citizens of Nigeria.

However, contrary to the media reports, the First Lady said on Saturday that she had no plan to organize any national prayer event, asking Nigerians to disregard such reports.

The statement by BusolaKukoyi reads: “This is to clarify and inform the general public that the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is not organizing a National Prayer.

The news doing the rounds in some conventional and social media platforms, according to her, “are unfounded and misleading. Consequently, anyone who might have come across the purported news of the joint National Prayer for Nigeria should disregard it as false.

“While the First Lady, a Christian and strong advocate of prayer and praying for Nigeria, believes that prayer is an act that must be done willingly, conscientiously and correctly, she also believes that praying for Nigeria is the responsibility of every Nigerian, irrespective of religious belief, political affiliation, tribe or tongue.

“Members of the public are advised to verify the authenticity of any news or event involving the First Lady of Nigeria or her Office through official channels.”

The First Lady therefore urged Nigerians to disregard anyone planning to organize the event, as the office is not aware of it.
