I Look Forward To Working With Nigerian President-Elect, Tinubu, Says UK Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak as congratulated Bola Tinubu, the president-elect in Nigeria on his victory at the poll.
Tinubu was declared the winner of Saturday’s presidential election on Wednesday morning. He polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who came second after polling 6,984,520 votes.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party polled 6,101,533 votes to come third, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso came fourth after polling 1,496,687 votes.
Tinubu and vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima were presented with certificates of return on Wednesday.
In a tweet on Wednesday evening, the UK Prime Minister said, “Congratulations to @officialABAT on his victory in Nigeria.
“The UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong. I look forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries.”
