Ibikunle Amosun, Rochas Okorocha took part in legal primaries to emerge senatorial candidates - Oshiomhole %Post Title

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has revealed that the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and his counterpart in Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, participated in legal primaries for the Senate, but conducted illegal governorship primaries for their anointed candidates.

Oshiomole, who said this when he spoke with top editors on Saturday in Lagos, wondered why Amosun and Okorocha participated the National Working Committee-backed primaries to emerge candidates, are now insisting on their preferred governorship candidates who emerged through illegal primaries.

Oshiomole admitted that he was invited by operatives of Department of State Services over the primaries of the party because of the security implications of the fallout of the elections.

Oshiomhole said he was at the DSS office in Abuja and engaged in a “conversation” and not an arrest or detention as was reported.

He said, “The conversation centred around APC primaries.

“The question now is whether or not it is the DSS’s job to interfere in a political party’s issues.

“And if there’s an allegation of corruption, it is the responsibility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission.”

The former governor of Edo State noted that the DSS did not ask him to return the next day, contrary to media reports.

Oshiomhole said he was billed to travel abroad on Monday, but postponed the trip for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said he eventually left the country on Tuesday.

He said: “I was the one who called Yahaya Bello and he came, but I drove home in my own car.

“What would they have said if it was the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) chairman that was invited by DSS, for instance, over the dollar bazaar at their Port Harcourt primary?

“They would have said democracy is under threat and would have fired a letter to the UN as they often ridicule themselves.”
