“I’ll Carry Everyone Along” – Ondo Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa says after Meeting Tinubu
Ondo State Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged to unite all warring factions in the state following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, APC members, and other stakeholders.
The meeting was held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday to resolve the political logjam in the state.
Aiyedatiwa said he would carry all commissioners and officials along in handling the state’s affairs. He also said he would maintain the status quo and work with the governor to ensure that governance is on the right track.
The Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Oladiji Olamide, also resolved to halt all impeachment moves against Aiyedatiwa.
Olamide said the House would “embrace peace” and that there would be “no more dissolution of the cabinet.”
President Tinubu also ordered the police to withdraw from the premises of the Ondo State House of Assembly in Akure.
The state assembly had served Aiyedatiwa with an impeachment notice following alleged gross misconduct. However, the deputy governor challenged his impeachment in court.
The continued absence of Governor Akeredolu after his return from a medical vacation abroad had further heightened tensions in the state.
Supporters of Aiyedatiwa threatened to protest last week if the governor failed to resume. They demanded that in the alternative, Aiyedatiwa be declared acting governor.
