The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deported seven nationals of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korean.

The affected, according to a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, in Maiduguri, are Jo Sun Phil; Jang Sung Chol; Che Chun Hyok; Pak Young Gon; Ri Yongil; Ri Hak Su; and Ri Tong Nam.

According to him, they were deported on the orders of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

He explained that the immediate past governor of Osun State acted on the powers conferred on him by the Immigration Act 2015.

Although no reason was given for the deportation, sources however said that the decision was taken based on national interest.
