Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, yesterday asked the federal government to change tactics and strategies towards addressing the rising insecurity in the country.

He also asked Nigerians to thoroughly assess all presidential candidates of various political parties on their past records and their programmes towards ending insecurity.

He said they should also be challenged on their agenda towards solving the insecurity, which is the most paramount problem at the moment.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos, the Atona Oodua of Yorubaland who said he was speaking as a concerned Nigerian, lamented that Nigeria had never before deteriorated to the current level.

He said, if not for God’s intervention, the country would have gone under with the high rate of insecurity, mutual distrust and unemployment among the youths.

He however said dialogue remained the best option to address the challenges facing Nigeria.

According to him, it is better to “jaw-jaw” than “war-war.”

He expressed regret that terrorists appeared to be more powerful than the state, recalling the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train, which left many people dead with scores still in captivity.
