Israel’s Netanyahu Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been diagnosed with grade 3 prostate cancer and is set to undergo surgery on Sunday, according to a statement released by his office. The diagnosis marks the third health-related challenge for Netanyahu this year, following hernia surgery in March and the implantation of a pacemaker in July.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that the 74-year-old leader recently underwent medical examinations at Hadassah Hospital, where he was found to have a urinary tract infection caused by an enlarged benign prostate tumor. Following antibiotic treatment, the infection subsided, but doctors have recommended surgery to address the condition.

Netanyahu, who has served as Israel’s prime minister since 2022 and previously held the position for several terms, remains a controversial figure in both domestic and international politics. Known for his hawkish policies, he has faced widespread criticism for his role as the architect of the ongoing military campaign against Gaza. Since the escalation of violence on October 7, 2023, nearly 46,000 Palestinians—primarily women and children—have lost their lives.

This latest health issue adds to a series of medical concerns for Netanyahu in recent months. In March, he underwent emergency surgery for a hernia, and in July, a pacemaker was implanted following a medical episode.
