Italy claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over France in Paris on Friday in a Nation League encounter, the first time in 70 year.

The match began with a crucial mistake by the French defence, allowing Bradley Barcola to capitalise and score the opening goal for France in the 1st minute, making it 1-0.

The Italian side quickly responded with a series of opportunities, though Davide Frattesi’s header in the 6th minute and Mateo Retegui’s effort both failed to find the net.

Italy’s persistence paid off in the 30th minute when Federico Dimarco equalized with a precise shot past Mike Maignan, leveling the score at 1-1.

The momentum shifted further in Italy’s favour as Mateo Retegui provided a brilliant assist to Davide Frattesi, who scored to make it 2-1 in the 51st minute.

The Italian side continued to press, and in the 74th minute, a through ball from Destiny Udogie set up Giacomo Raspadori for a powerful finish, extending Italy’s lead to 3-1.

Despite late efforts from France, including attempts from Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma stood firm to secure the win.

The victory highlights Italy’s resilience and clinical finishing, ensuring a memorable match against a strong French side.
