It’s Anti-Democratic to Hold Osun Local Government Funds to Ransom – PDP Rep Agbedi Knocks Tinubu
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the House of Representatives has challenged the Tinubu-led government to release the local government allocations held to ransom.
This statement was made known by the leader of the Caucus, Hon. Fred Agbedi, while speaking after an emergency meeting in Abuja.
The lawmakers accused the Tinubu administration of undermining democratic institutions in Osun State, calling for the immediate release of local government funds in line with a valid court judgment.
Recall that the Tinubu-led government has withheld the LG allocations of Osun state.
This development was confirmed on August 17, by the former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George.
He revealed that the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, his older brother, and Nigerian singer Davido, sponsored the payment of workers’ salaries in Osun State after the Federal Government withheld local government allocations.
Reacting to the development, Agbedi challenged Tinubu’s government to release the local government allocations describing the withdrawal of the allocation as undemocratic.
His words,”It is anti-democratic for President Tinubu to hold the local government funds of Osun State to ransom.
“We insist that the right thing must be done, court judgments obeyed, and due process followed,” Agbedi said.
