Janet Jackson, the US pop singer, has revealed that three fellow celebrities are her “biological cousins”.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show  — the video shared on X on Tuesday — the actress disclosed that she is related to iconic singers Stevie Wonder and Tracy Chapmanand ace actor Samuel L. Jackson.

The host had asked her to speak about her family tree. “Now someone told me this earlier, are you related to Stevie Wonder?” host Scott Mills asked.

“Yes, he is our cousin,” Janet replied. “Not a lot of people know that. He is our cousin on my mother’s side.

“So is Tracy Chapman. So is Samuel Jackson.”

The singer referred to all three of them as her “cousins”.  She also stressed that Samuel “would be a cousin too. I mean, he’s not my brother”.

Janet is part of one of the world’s most famous family music dynasties.

She is the youngest sibling of the famous musical group ‘The Jackson 5’, which helped launch her brother Michael Jackson’s iconic career as a legendary musician.

The 58-year-old singer is currently performing on her ‘Together Again’ tour.

Wonder is one of the most acclaimed and influential musicians of the 20th century. The 74-year-old is credited as a pioneer and influenced by musicians across genres that include R&B, pop, soul, gospel, funk, and jazz.

Chapman, 60, on the other hand, is widely known for her hit songs ‘Fast Car’ (1988) and ‘Give Me One Reason’ (1995).

Samuel is recognised as one of the most prominent and successful actors of his era. The films he has appeared in have collectively generated over $27 billion in global box office revenue, making him the highest-grossing actor of all time.

The actor previously said he was not related to Michael, the late music icon.

In a 2017 interview with Wired, Samuel addressed some misconceptions about his life, one of them being whether he and Michael are related.

“Nope,” he said in the video.
