JUST IN: Tinubu appoints former Nasarawa governor as UBEC chairman


A former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura has been appointed as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The governor was appointed as the new chairman of the UBEC governing board by President Bola Tinubu.

Al-Makura’s appointment was confirmed by Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education at the launch of the AFD-supported ICT Development Project in 10 selected Nigerian universities.

A businessman and politician, the former governor has championed several development projects in his state.

The commission is an initiative of the Nigerian government which is under the Ministry of Education.

UBEC is also responsible for the release of counterpart funding for basic education initiatives delivered across the country.
