Kano Assembly confirms Kwankwaso’s son, others as commissioners


The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Mustapha, son of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as a member of the state executive council.

Mustapha’s appointment was confirmed alongside those of three other commissioner nominees on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Receiving the nominees at plenary, the lawmakers said they were satisfied with their integrity and asked them to “take a bow and go”.

Member representing Doguwa state constituency in the assembly Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Riruwai, said the assembly confirmed the appointment of the nominees as it was satisfied with their curriculum vitae.

The lawmaker expressed optimism that they would contribute immensely to the development of Kano.

Speaking shortly after the screening exercise, Majority leader, Lawal Hussaini Dala, said the names of Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Abduljabbar Umar Garko, Shehu Usman Aliyu, and Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso were presented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for legislative screening and approval.

The majority leader said part of the requirements for the appointment is to be a Nigerian, not below 30 years of age and with no criminal records.

Governor Yusuf had formally communicated to the assembly, the establishment of four new ministries which are Humanitarian , power, solid minerals and Internal security.
