Kidnappers return to FCT as gunmen abduct former PDP chairman, 22 others in Abuja
Gunmen numbering around 40 stormed Kawu Community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), abducting 23 individuals, including a former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu.
The abduction took place in the early hours of Thursday, according to Punch.
Kawu Community, which shares boundaries with Kaduna and Niger states, became the target of the gunmen, who reportedly arrived from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State the previous day.
The Deputy Speaker of the Bwari Area Council and councillor representing the affected community, Abdulmumini Zakari, revealed that the assailants divided themselves into groups.
He said some entered the palace of the District Head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, abducting his son, Lukman, and his wife, who had recently been married.
Meanwhile, others targeted the compound of Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward. The gunmen abducted him along with his four children.
Additional victims included Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, and his two wives, along with some children.
