Killer hippopotamus troubling Adamawa communities captured
A hippopotamus which has been troubling some communities in the southern part of Adamawa State has been captured.
The animal which was responsible for the death of a young man in Banjiram village, Guyuk Local Government Area, was captured by some youths in neighbouring Shelleng Local Government Area, after it strayed into the area.
The hippopotamus was said to have been displaced by flood from its natural habitat near the Kiri Dam in Shelleng.
The flood had led to rivers overflowing their banks, upsetting households and animals alike.
Residents had raised the alarm, leading to efforts to capture the hippopotamus after it killed a young man in Banjiram on July 28, 2025.
