Ladoja moves to reconcile Makinde, Fayose
A former governor of Oyo State Sen. Rashidi Ladoja has begun moves to reconcile incumbent governor Seyi Makinde and former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.
The two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders have been at loggerheads over who controls the party in Southwest.
While the party’s constitution recognizes current highest elected member as the zonal leader which makes Makinde the official leader, Fayose is insisting that official position does not mean that one should ride roughshod over other leaders who are one’s seniors in politics.
The crisis has largely affected the official leadership in Southwest zone as Fayose is pulling every string to ensure that Makinde does not determine who is elected as members of the zonal executive.
The Nation gathered reliably that Ladoja has engaged Fayose on the lingering crisis, appealing to him to give peace a chance.
It was learnt that Fayose has agreed to attend a meeting to be called by Ladoja in Ibadan soon.
An enlarged meeting involving more stakeholders is to follow the meeting between the two former governors.
Fayose had shunned peace meeting twice including the one facilitated by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in Ibadan a few weeks ago. He is wielding his influence in the six states to prove that Makinde cannot ride roughshod over him having been governor twice before the Oyo State governor. (The Nation)
