‘Lagos APC secretariat not shut by police’
Police authorities in Lagos State yesterday described as untrue a report published by a section of the media that its operatives shut the state secretariat of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) on ACME Road, Ogba, Ikeja.
Police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement described the report as shocking.
The statement partly reads: ‘’The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the publication on the social media and in some Nigerian newspapers that the command has shut down the All Progressives Congress Party Secretariat along ACME Road, Ogba, Lagos State, as a result of the rumored protest by some party members on Thursday 3rd June, 2021.
‘’The Command receives the report as a rude shock and unfounded as the Police have no power to shut down any political institution or its secretariat except on the grounds of total anarchy and violent crises endangering the security of lives and property therein.
‘’Suffice to state that the presence of policemen at the APC secretariat along ACME Road Ogba, was a proactive measure being put in place by the command to fortify the secretariat during and after the party primaries that were held on Saturday 29th May, 2021; and the policemen are still on standby at the party secretariat.’’
