Lagos Assembly dismisses claims of First Lady’s involvement in internal crisis

The Lagos State House of Assembly has debunked an online report alleging that Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is influencing the ongoing internal disputes within the House.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode, the lawmakers described the claim as baseless and misleading.

They emphasized that Senator Tinubu has no role in the Assembly’s internal matters and condemned any attempt to link her to the disagreements.

The statement further highlighted the Assembly’s deep respect for the First Lady, acknowledging her contributions to governance and national development both as a former First Lady of Lagos State and in her current role.

“It is inconceivable that any member of the Assembly would accuse her of involvement in legislative matters or attempt to tarnish her reputation,” Olukayode stated.

The lawmakers also called on journalists to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publication and ensuring accuracy and balance in their reporting”, Ogundipe said.
