Lagos Central Mosque crisis: Baba Adinni of Lagos arrested, arraigned
The leadership crisis rocking the Lagos Central Mosque is far from being over as the Baba Adinni of Lagos, Sikiru Alabi-Macfoy, was arraigned at the Santana Magistrate’s Court, Tinubu, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, with a charge of disrupting a Ramadan lecture.
This action followed a prior invitation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Panti, where he was unexpectedly taken to court.
The court proceedings stemmed from a disagreement over the organisation of Ramadan lectures.
They alleged that Alabi-Macfoy violated an earlier undertaking of good conduct.
Alabi-Macfoy vehemently denied the allegations, claiming they were fabricated and part of a plot to silence him. He maintained that he was not present at the Chief Imam’s lecture on March 8 and did not disrupt it.
Magistrate Damola Paul granted Alabi-Macfoy bail after he pleaded not guilty.
The case has been adjourned for mention on April 16, 2025. (The Guardian)
